- Biophilic Design
The brand Gamlaa was established in 2013. It mainly focuses on biophilia while bringing nature into buildings and other spaces (both corporate and residential) through the integration of plants, greenery, materials, and design. The brand strongly believes that plants should not be treated as decorative or space improvement items. Instead, they should actually be considered as an integral part of the overall design from the very beginning.
Gamlaa approached D’Art with one main purpose: It wanted us to design and execute its exhibition booth for FOAID (Festival of Architecture and Interior Design). They wanted a space that wasn’t just open and nature inspired but also clearly depicted how we all can integrate greenery while designing our spaces right from the planning stage.

Just like every other retail project, this exhibition design and execution project also came with various challenges. For example, the booth had very limited space. Due to this, we had to plan the layout in a very careful manner that included all the required elements and, at the same time, also allowed the visitors to move around easily.
The installation time was also limited, and it had to be done within a very short period. Because the ceiling was not very strong and could not support heavy materials, we had to strategically use the hanging designs while keeping both their weight and the ceiling’s holding capacity in mind. It was also very important to properly coordinate the plants with the electrical and lighting systems. Apart from all of these, Gamlaa wanted its exhibition booth to remain open as well as welcoming so that the visitors could clearly see and understand its brand.

In order to meet all these requirements, D’Art developed the entire exhibition design around Gamlaa’s vision and the theme “The Green Lab.” Instead of using greenery only as a decoration, we actually made it a part of the main structure. Dividing the space into different sections and utilizing wall and vertical plants to create a clear layout structure was indeed one of the key highlights of this respective project. In addition, our team also decided to develop separate spaces where the interested visitors could seamlessly and comfortably explore materials, interact with the spaces, and discuss their ideas and thoughts.

The final execution booth clearly showcased Gamlaa’s biophilic approach towards bringing nature into space design. Irrespective of these several challenges, including limited space, short timeline, ceiling restrictions, etc., we successfully delivered a space that brought greenery into the exhibition design in a very meaningful manner.
The visitors could easily explore the booth, interact with all the available elements, and discuss their ideas and thoughts while seamlessly moving around in a very comfortable manner. The final design and execution perfectly balanced Gamlaa’s vision as well as values with the practical needs of the exhibition booth, that too, while also creating an engaging as well as unique experience for its visitors.
but work wonders in the real world.
